At Ed Impact Africa Foundation, safeguarding is very key to who we are and how we work. We are committed to creating safe, inclusive and respectful environments in which children, young people and adults can participate in our programmes and activities free from abuse, exploitation, neglect, harassment and any form of harm.
We take our responsibility to prevent harm and protect the rights, dignity and wellbeing of everyone we engage with – particularly children and adults who may be at increased risk of harm or exploitation – seriously.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, exploitation and any other safeguarding violations. We expect all our staff, volunteers, consultants, partners and other representatives of our organisation to uphold the highest standards of conduct and to act in accordance with our safeguarding policies and procedures.
Our Commitment Includes
- Prevention: Taking proactive measures to minimise safeguarding risks across our programmes, operations and partnerships.
- Awareness and accountability: Ensuring our representatives are aware of our safeguarding policies and procedures, understand their safeguarding responsibilities and are equipped to recognise and respond to concerns.
- Safe reporting: Providing accessible and appropriate channels through which safeguarding concerns can be raised safely and confidentially, without fear of retaliation.
- Appropriate response: Taking all safeguarding concerns seriously, responding promptly and sensitively, and referring matters to the appropriate authorities or services where necessary. We keep the appropriate parties updated on progress during case management.
- Continuous improvement: Regularly reviewing our safeguarding practices to strengthen protection, accountability and organisational learning, and developing our team's capacity to prevent, detect and respond to abuse and exploitation through routine refresher trainings.
We are committed to treating every safeguarding concern with dignity, sensitivity and respect, while protecting confidentiality to the extent possible and consistent with our responsibilities to keep people safe.
